Stay warm in your garden this winter

The cold months are upon us, so what sort of approach should you take to stay warm in the garden? For those of us with a garden or smaller alternative outdoor space such as an apartment balcony or enclosed patio, this is a question that we’re all surely keen to answer! After all, the cold temperatures of winter are the main reason we tend to neglect our garden this time of the year or find ways of avoiding having to go out there altogether.

Below we’ve listed a few tips and ideas to help you stay nice and snug in your outdoor space so that you can instead find more reasons to want to go out there and use it, despite the rapid decline in temperature that the winter brings.

Add a firepit or burner

If you have an enclosed garden or a specific outdoor area that serves up the entertainment, then consider a firepit or burner to add much-needed warmth as well as an additional source of light as night falls. Many of the options available are extremely stylish and versatile, such as the Dancook 9000 Firepit or Llar burner by Gandia Blasco. This allows you to ensure that your firepit or burner of choice blends well with the rest of your garden furniture, be it modern or traditional in design.

Build a greenhouse

Choosing to build a greenhouse will create a much warmer environment for your green fingers and provide you with an opportunity to grow the things you love away from the bitter cold outside. Of course, this is only a viable option for those with a garden that offers enough vacant space, although it’s worth noting that there are temporary greenhouse solutions that can be easily assembled in just a few hours.

Snuggle with blankets

There is nothing cosier than wrapping up warm in a collection of blankets and under a starry moonlight sky, especially if you’ve already invested in the previously mentioned firepit or burner! The Trefle blanket by Fermob is a fine example of a large high quality blanket that can help keep you and your loved ones snuggled up warm this winter.

Heated outdoor decking

Thinking outside the box a little, why not decide whether adding a heated subfloor could be an option? This would give you the ability to regulate the temperature of your garden deck and make sure your feet remain nice and toasty - a solution I’m sure most of us wouldn’t really think to consider!

When a couple of these ideas are combined together they can go a long way to giving you a much pleasant and cosier garden experience as the colder days set in, so you needn’t neglect your outdoor space entirely.
